About

Hello! My name is Andrea, I’m a visual artist based in Lima, Perú. I’d say I’m a late bloomer, but I think I’m still lacking the bloomer part. I started making art in 2022 and have taken classes in Corriente Alterna School of Art, California Institute of the Arts and I’m currently studying under artist Nuria Cano’s tutelage in Taller Magenta.

My story with art is a bit of a “long and winding road”, as I actually majored in Mechanical Engineering, and worked in the field. But there was always this longing inside, like something was missing. Then COVID hit and I was tasked with the evaluation of the campus as we were about to reopen the University. One of the faculties to evaluate was the Art Department. And as I walked into the studios, a part of me shook, and I knew I had to follow that path, my regret up to that point had been enough.

As for my work, I mostly paint with oild and watercolors, though I have dabbled in Installation Art (mechanical enginerring does come handy there), but it is still very experimental. Themewise, I’m interested in exploring the interaction between our inner world, the self and the outer world, and how our own perceptions have the ability to shape who we are.
